How much does neurodiversity training cost in Australia?
Short answer: for a single half-day awareness session with a small-to-mid size team, budget somewhere in the $1,500–$3,000 range. A full-day, customised workshop for leaders and managers typically runs $4,000–$8,000+. Multi-session programs, blended coaching-and-training packages, or organisation-wide rollouts cost more, but scale down per person the bigger the group gets.
That's a starting point, not a quote — the real answer depends on a handful of factors, which is worth understanding before you start comparing providers.
What actually drives the cost
Format and length. A one-hour lunch-and-learn awareness session costs a fraction of a full-day, scenario-based workshop. Most of the price difference between providers in this market comes down to how much time is actually being delivered, not how “premium” the provider is.
Group size. Training is usually priced per session, not per head, up to a point — so a 15-person session and a 40-person session might cost close to the same amount, which makes larger sessions better value per person. Beyond a certain size, sessions typically need to be split or the format needs to change (e.g. train-the-trainer).
Customisation. A generic “neurodiversity 101” session is cheaper than one built around your specific industry, your existing policies, or real (anonymised) scenarios from your own workplace. Customisation takes preparation time on the provider's side, and that's reflected in the price.
One-off vs ongoing. A single workshop is a lower total cost but a shorter-lived effect. Programs that combine training with follow-up coaching, manager check-ins, or policy review cost more overall but tend to produce change that actually sticks — which is usually the more expensive mistake to make: paying once for a session that's forgotten within a month.
Delivery mode. Remote/online sessions are generally the most cost-effective option, particularly for teams spread across multiple locations. In-person delivery adds travel and time costs but can be worth it for a flagship leadership session.
A rough guide by format
Awareness session (1–2 hours, one team): from around $1,500–$3,000
Inclusive workplace workshop (full-day, leaders and managers): typically $4,000–$8,000+, depending on customisation
Manager coaching package (ongoing, per manager): priced per session or as a package — ask for a rate card
Team transformation program (multi-session, organisation-wide): a custom quote based on scope, usually the largest single investment but the broadest and most durable impact
Is there a cheaper way to start?
Yes — if budget is the main barrier, a single well-run awareness session for your leadership team is a reasonable place to start, and it's genuinely useful to have concrete numbers before your first conversation with a provider. It's also worth checking whether any of the cost can be offset through government funding — we've covered exactly that, including current caps, in our guide to the JobAccess Employment Assistance Fund.
